I have started a new habit. And it seems to be paying off. On nights when I am headed to bed and I know that there are a lot of things that I want to get done the next day, I do two things and I find that doing these two things increases my productivity and dramatically decreases my stress levels as I work during the day.
- I write down ALL the things that I want to get done. If I want to make sure that I remember to e-mail a friend, write a post, work on a WordPress theme that I am creating, read some in my current book, or even just make some progress on a current cross stitch pattern…I write it down.
- I pick out 1 or 2 things that are MUST DO and I decide that as long as those get done, the day is a success. My stress levels are OUT OF CONTROL. They have been for a while. My stress levels are part of the reason that I walked away from A Petite Princess. I find that if I take a look at that list that I created in part one of this post and I pick out 1 or 2 things that I will consider MUST DO. It helps control the stress the next day. For example: I have a friend that I have been meaning to e-mail back for about 6 weeks now. I just keep forgetting to do it. She and I both have a lot of SHIT going on in our personal lives and I am just afraid that if I sit to write the e-mail that I am going to dump all of that shit and drama on my dear, sweet friend and I have been doing my best to avoid doing that. The e-mail to her is on my list for one day next week. I have to make myself do it…she’s a friend and she understands if a little drama comes her way. There are forms I need to send to a State Office and to my bank…those are things that will make the day a success if I get them in the mail one day this week
The above tricks may not work for you, but they work for me. I am so very thankful that they do work for me,
